Ball Semiconductor Inc. places a great deal of emphasis on product development by the end user of the product. Clinical physicians, biomedical engineers, and key people in industry with many years of experience in their respective fields are an integral part of our development process. We are continually seeking like-minded medical device companies with whom to form joint development partnerships.

Medical Applications

While this technology can be applied to benefit most every area of medicine, it is necessary to focus on key areas to maintain efficient utilization of both intellectual and financial resources. The cardiovascular field has been identified as a major area of application, given the needs in this area and its widespread impact on today's population. The prioritization of other identified key areas are broken down as shown above.

Joint development projects allow the cooperation of research & development efforts with specific expertise to produce innovative products of the highest quality. We seek to form joint development agreements with established companies in the medical field in order to produce value-added devices.

Integrated circuits on microscopic spheres for medical purposes, or MedBalls, can be used for a vast number of applications. Their characteristic of being able to wirelessly communicate environmental conditions from inside the body, whether ingested or implanted, can make acquisition of vital statistics convenient and automatic, and provide information for diagnosis and treatment of pathological conditions.

Catheter-tip sensors, wireless EKG electrodes, and Ball Chromatography are just a few examples of the products made possible through the development of MedBalls.
